FEDERAL OFFENSES: The Partners of Burkett & Sanderson are Criminal Justice Act approved attorneys with extensive experience in Federal Court defense. Federal prosecutions are complicated and involve a very different set of rules than found in State court. Attorneys without experience with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and federal courts can easily lose their way. With our experience we will do what is necessary to defend your case and protect your rights in the Federal system. You need an attorney that has experience in all aspects of Federal litigation. We have appeared in many cases throughout the Southern District including representing defendants at trial, charged with Civil Rights violations, white collar crime, homicide and drug offenses.

  • Drunk Driving litigation is complicated. The attorneys of Burkett & Sanderson have represented hundreds of individuals accused of drunk driving offenses. You need an attorney who has the experience to navigate you through every phase of your OVI case. Each step of the case must be reviewed. We fight our cases first by filing motions to challenge the evidence against you. We have successfully challenged field sobriety tests and chemical test results including breathalyzer tests, BAC results, Intoxilizer tests, and tests related to alcohol and drugs Impairment. A drunk driving conviction carries the potential of significant penalties including, but not limited to, jail, license suspension, fines and fees. We have worked with the Courts to bring about appropriate resolutions to many such prosecutions. We have been working in Licking and Fairfield for twenty-five years and have a lengthy history with the courts and familiarity with their practices.

  • A civil protection order may have a lasting impact on a person’s life. The terms of a protection order may impact where you can live, when or even if you can see your children, your right to bear arms and where you can visit. The consequences of violating such an order may include jail time, fines or other restrictions on your liberty. The granting of such an order is a court proceeding. You can have a lawyer represent your interests and the attorneys of Burkett & Sanderson are experienced in protecting the rights of individuals in such proceedings. An issued protection order can last for years. It is important that your interests are protected and our firm has the lawyers to give you that protection.

  • Contempt proceedings in juvenile or domestic relations court can result you going to jail. Experienced representation is necessary to protect your rights and to ensure that the court and the prosecutor are aware of the particulars of your situation. Burkett & Sanderson attorneys have that experience. Our firm has worked well with the attorneys of the Child Support Enforcement Agency and the courts to protect our clients during the contempt proceedings. While we do not do motions to modify support orders, we will work with you to avoid a jail sentence.
